Treat Them Really Nicely

Recently some very weird thoughts have been occupying my mind - I thought I could share them with you.

When my Man and I met I was a mess. I was a wreck. My previous relationship had worn me out completely and it was all being made even worse by the process of trying to hide it from everyone around and acting as if everything is fine. That's a really tiring (and, I must say, pointless) thing to do.

When my Man and I met he was a mess. He was a wreck. For other reasons, yes, but there we were - two people knowing there is something between us we can't ignore, yet so F***ED up that we can't give it another try with open hearts and open minds, fearlessly.

It was countless numbers of sleepless nights later that we realized that we had let go of the pain and fears growing from our past. It took so long to learn to trust again. So much time had been wasted.

What I'm thinking now is that none of us wishes for our ex-es to go around telling their current partners what ass***s we were and how badly we treated them back then. No matter how good people are, I believe it against human nature and instincts to love or even like our currents partner's ex-es or our ex-es currents partners... Wouldn't it just be SO much better to treat our current partner's nicely? Be good to them? Honest? Open-hearted? That way, if you are meant to be together forever, it will be 100% for your benefit. You will end up with a very loving, devoted person.

And if you are not meant to be together forever?... Oh well, in that case you will have nothing to be ashamed of when you bump into them holding hands in the mall one day. You will look his new partner in the eye with pride for yourself that you were a good girl and did half of the job for her.

My mother taught me this lesson. Be the woman that will be missed (or man - I think it works both ways). The day might come when you will be really grateful for having been a good partner. Start investing in that option right now. Be good. Be honest. Treat them nicely.

P.S.: ... hope you like the outfit post:) New Year spirit all around!
